Acton Town Council Meeting Minutes May 3, 2021 Approved

  1. Call to Order, Flag Salute & Roll Call – The meeting was called to order at 6;30 pm followed by the Flag Salute. Members present at the meeting were Jacki Ayer, Jeremiah Owen, Pam Wolter, Tom Costan, Troy Pieper, and Kelly Teno.
  2. Council Member Comments – None
  3. Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) Update – Jacki explained the PSPS which included all the documents filed to date showing all the Edison violations.  The 2019 events are still being addressed.  We heard from a reporter last week that she is interested in our reports and that the violations happening here are happening all over the state.  Jacki asked that everyone send an email to the ATC when they lose power due to winds and when they lose their communications.
  4.  Interim Supportive Housing Ordinance (ISHO) Update – The intent of the ordinance was to address homelessness in the County.  The ordinance was adopted by the Board of Supervisors.  Problems with RV living were pointed out to the County.
  5. Illegal activity / marijuana grow concerns – The Sheriff Narco Team are going to about 10 grow houses a week and taking the operations down.  Hemp can be grown with a permit.  Comments included – A resident asked how many permits have been issued.  Four are fully permitted.  There are about 20 to 30 illegal grows in Acton.  A Shannon Valley resident reported that they have filed complaints since 2019.  There is a sign near Crown Valley advertising marijuana equipment.
  6. CSD and Trails Updates – Residents can access the current version of the CSD Update at bit.ly/AVCSDsUpdate
  7. Dollar General/Auto Dealer Updates – Jacki pointed out the need for Dollar General to do a traffic study.
  8. Items for Next Agenda – CSD Update, Grow Houses, Measure W
