Los Angeles County Department of Public Works presented information on how to properly use compostable material on you property.
The big takeaway from the presentation was – State law puts all the burden of making sure the compostable material you receive meets State standards for contaminants. If the material you received does not meet standard, you will be required to remove it and dispose of the material as toxic waste.
The community was warned not to purchase or accept “products” without proof, in the form of a test report, the product meets the State standards. The community was also warned about only purchasing or accepting from a known licensed vendor.
