Acton Town Council Meeting Minutes August 19. 2024 Approved
- Call to Order, Flag Salute & Roll Call – The meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM by President Jeremiah Owen. Present at the meeting: June Perkins, Jeremiah Owen, and Kelly Teno. Quorum was not met.
- Community Comments – None
- Announcements & Correspondence – Short Term Rental ordinance is going before the Board of Supervisors on September 17.
- Library Report – Library will be closed on Labor Day. Upcoming events were announced.
- Representative Update – Chuck Bostwick from Supervisor Barger’s office announced that the BESS Franchise Agreement should be coming October 8, 2024 and going before the Board of Supervisors. Landfill vouchers are still available, from July 2024 thru July 2025.
- Deputy Martinez Report – No new stats. Deputy Martinez announced that the Sheriff annual survey is available on their Facebook page. Jeremiah asked if he could send the ATC the link and we will post it on our website.
- Garbage Disposal District – Jeremiah gave an update on the ATC’s previous comments and that the DEIR comments are due by September 5th.
- Split North Los Angeles County into its own County – Tabled
- Elections – Kelly gave an election update and announced that we actually have 4 seats up for reelection and 4 empty seats.
- BESS Update – Ruth from Acton Takes Action gave a brief update on the BESS. She announced that the DOE is looking for projects that are non lithium based and CEC gave a 30 million dollar grant for long term non lithium projects.
- Minutes – Tabled
- Councilmembers Comments – June announced that she will be going to Assemblyman Lackey’s safety talks.
