Acton Town Council Meeting Minutes, June 3, 2024, Approved
- Call to Order, Flag Salute, & Roll Call – The meeting was called to order at 6:31 PM by President Jeremiah Owen. Present at the meeting: Jeremiah Owen, Jacki Ayer, and June Perkins.
- Community Comments – None
- Announcements & Correspondence – A property owner has applied to subdivide his 2.5 acre property into 2 1.25 acre parcels. The property has an R2 land designation and is zoned for 2 acre minimum. The ISCO site has applied for a new site plan. The Beach Bus is back. Catch a ride from Lancaster or Palmdale to Santa Monica Pier. The round trip cost is $6 for children and adult and $2 for seniors and people with disabilities. Art Grown LA is offering free live performances at parks, libraries, civic events, and community centers throughout the 5th District. You can request performances for an upcoming public event also. If you are interested, contact the ATC and we will provide you the link. SCE is testing our Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) notification system starting June 4, through June 7, 2024. High Speed Rail has announced the FEIR for the Palmdale to Burbank Segment. It looks like they are still recommending the underground option for Acton. The Leona Valley Cherry parade and Festival will be held June 8, 2024.

- Sheriff’s Report – None
- Traffic Issues (Santiago,Sierra Hwy, and Ward Rd) – No comments from the Gallery, or Council Members.
- Goat Permit – Antelope Woods Rd – No site plan should be approved until violations are fixed, including the vegetation removal violation.
- High Speed rail – Will be discussed at the June 26 – 27, 2024 CHSRA Board meeting. We should send a letter.
- Buddhist Temple – They are hosting public events with out a Special Event Permit. They are operating without an approved site plan. Their statues do not have permits from DPW. If it is a yoga studio or a temple, nobody can live there but they are living there. Add to next agenda.
- BESS – Update on the GO 131 D CPUC proceeding – CPUC staff recommending BESS be approved with a simple permit and no need for analysis. This should be discussed in more detail at the next meeting.
