Acton Town Council Special Meeting Minutes, January 26, 2022 Approved
- Call to Order, Flag Salute, & Roll Call – The meeting was called to order at 6:35 pm by President Jeremiah Owen. Followed by the Flag Salute. Members present – Pam Wolter, Jacki Ayer, Jeremiah Owen, Tom Costan, Troy Pieper, and Kelly Teno.
- Climate Action Plan Scoping – Jacki spoke about the issues with the Climate Action Plan. They are not looking at all the aspects and not telling what all their goals are, except that they want LA County to be all electric and full decarbonization by 2045. Scoping comments are due February 1, 2022. Jacki made a motion to write scoping comments on the Climate Action Plan. Pam 2nd the motion. The motion carried.
- Community Trails Meeting with Cal Poly SLO – The presentation from the Cal poly students will be on Saturday February 12, 2022. We are hoping for a large turnout. Jacki spoke about how it all got started and encouraged the audience to contact all their friends who are concerned about trails. Examples are equestrians, mountain bikers, hikers, walkers, etc…
- SCE Update – The ATC filed a complaint with the PUC for SCE developing the helipad in Beartrap . Edison filed a motion to dismiss. Jacki spoke about the motion and issues with it. The prehearing was last Thursday, the scoping memo will be next, discovery, testimony, then rebuttal testimony. The judge asked why the ATC is complaining since none of us live on Beartrap Canyon. Jacki explained that we are unincorporated and many residents came to the ATC to ask if we would stand behind them. The judge understood.
- Comments to State Agencies Regarding the Draft Safety Element Update – We had discussed previously to send our comments to State Agencies, but they already certified the Safety Element and it is now at the Board of Supervisors. We should send our comments to the BOS.
- Rural Internet/Draft Wireless Communication Ordinance – Jeremiah sat in on the call about rural internet. He was not encouraged by the meeting. it seems our community may make too much money. We need to look at the Wireless Community Ordinance.
